Getting Involved

How can I get involved?

We’re a really friendly company and we’re always on the lookout for new members who’d like to get stuck in, have some fun and make amazing theatre with us! There’s loads of ways you can get involved, so if acting isn’t your thing don’t worry, we’ll be able to find something you can do to help out.

Do you long to hear the roar of the crowd and feel the heat of the footlights? The why not audition for one of our productions for your chance to tread the boards? We don’t mind if you’ve never been on stage before, or if you’re an experienced performer, everyone is welcome to come along to our auditions. All we look for is energy, excitement and a willingness to have fun!

We usually produce 3 – 4 plays a year and each production will have its own auditions. These will be publicised on our website and on our social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). You can also sign up to our mailing list to receive information by email.

Is there a play you’ve always wanted to direct? Maybe you have a vision and you’re desperate to see it on stage. Come and chat to us, we love to meet new directors. You can join us and assist a director on a show, or pitch your idea to our committee. We usually ask directors that are new to the company to produce a rehearsed play reading before we commit to a full production.

If you’ve never directed before but want to see what it’s all about, get in touch and come along to one of our rehearsals.

We’re also always on the lookout for musical directors and choreographers that might want to get involved. If you’ve got musical talent and you want to join us, get in touch today!

If you’d rather not appear onstage you might fancy offering to help out backstage for a show. We’re always looking for people to volunteers as stage managers, props managers, assistants and technicians. Your duties could be gathering props for the show, operating a lighting or sound desk, prompting during rehearsals or being in charge of the backstage space.

If this sounds like you, get in touch today. Usually we put together crews for shows just after the auditions, once the show has been cast, but if you want to get involved and there are no auditions happening, contact us and come along to one of our rehearsals – we’d love to meet you.

Are you an organiser? Does the sight of a neatly cross-referenced folder give you inner peace? You could be just the person we need on a production team. Each production has a team at its helm and a production manager heading up that team. This person, and their assistant, keeps everyone on track to make sure all the jobs are done in time for the performances.

Production teams are usually formed around audition time, if you like the sound of this fill in our contact form and we’ll let you know how you can get involved.

Our shows would be nothing without the set, costumes and make up. Are you a designer, a seamstress or a make up expert? We have a small crack design team that imagine, create, build, paint and sew everything between them. If you like the idea of drawing up set designs, or working with a director to create costumes, or if you’re handy with a drill and paintbrush, get in touch today!

There’s always a chance to join our design team – contact us now and let us know what you can do.

Technical design

Are you a whizz with sound design? Do you look a lighting rig and see sense? If you have a passion for designing the technical elements of a show, get in touch today! We’re always on the lookout for skilled technical designers who can help make our shows look and sound tip top

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in learning more about, get in touch and we’ll chat.

Front of house

No show can hope to run smoothly without a fabulous front of house team. We’re famous for our outdoor performances of Shakespeare’s classics, and we also perform regularly in the Key Theatre and in the Undercroft. We always need a dedicated, friendly and helpful team of front of house volunteers to make sure our audiences are happy.

Our members usually volunteer to help out front of house during the weeks leading up to the show but we’re always happy to hear from keen volunteers!

Is there another skill you have that we haven’t listed here? Or do you want to know more about us and what we do? Fill in our contact form today, or contact us on Facebook messenger and we’ll help you out!
