Marketing The Mask Theatre by Phil Cullinan
'Marketing - why do you need Marketing?', is something people
often ask me. 'You're only an Amateur Society', maybe so, but we
are a society that prides itself on acting professionally and that
includes Marketing.
It's the same for the Mask as any other company, if we don't
promote our work nobody will come to see it, which is not good
considering our production costs can be over £6000 for a single
production.
Marketing in some ways is one of the most important areas of The
Mask, the small team who specialise in this area, we all work in
Marketing in our Professional Lives as well as our Amateur, have
to cover many different skills. From selling advertising space in
our programme to poster design. From talking to local Press and
Radio to gain coverage to dropping leaflets and posters in shops.
It all needs doing.
The Marketing Team are always looking for willing helpers, you
don't have to be 'In the business' as it were, just keen to get
involved. It's a great way to take part in the society if the roar
of the crowd is not your thing, like me!!
We are also looking for potential advertisers and sponsors for the
coming performances. It doesn't have to be fantastic amounts and
the benefits of being involved with The Mask are fantastic. We
regularly feature in the Local Press and are quite often on Local
Radio in the run up to a performance. This year is going to be
particularly good with the forthcoming production at Flag Fen,
this will give us a huge amount of exposure, potentially UK wide.
Any sponsor would gain a huge benefit from an association with us.
You would be in good company too, in the past we have been
associated with the NSPCC, Woodgreen Animal Shelter and currently
